Working Principle

A Heat Pump operates on the vapor compression refrigeration cycle and can reverse or utilize heat transfer depending on the application.

1. Heat Absorption (Evaporator)

The refrigerant absorbs heat from a low-temperature source such as air, water, or waste heat. As it absorbs heat, the refrigerant evaporates into a low-pressure gas.

2. Compression Process

The low-pressure vapor is compressed by the compressor, increasing its temperature and pressure significantly.

3. Heat Release (Condenser)

The high-pressure, high-temperature refrigerant releases heat into the target medium such as water or air. This heat is used for space heating, process heating, or hot water generation.

4. Expansion Process

The refrigerant passes through an expansion valve, reducing its pressure and temperature before re-entering the evaporator.
