A water-cooled screw chiller is a refrigeration system used to cool water for industrial and commercial applications. It uses a screw compressor and a water-based cooling system (usually with a cooling tower) to remove heat efficiently.
These chillers are widely used where large cooling capacity and continuous operation are required.
Working Principle
A water-cooled screw chiller operates on the vapor compression refrigeration cycle, which includes four main processes:
compression → condensation → expansion → evaporation
Main Components
- Screw compressor
- Evaporator
- Condenser
- Expansion valve
- Cooling tower
- Pumps and control system
